Hello! My name is Michelle. Welcome to my blog.
I began this blog in June 2006. In the beginning my intention was to reach out and connect with family and friends who live very far away. Now my intention is to write things down about my life and my family, especially when I'm busy, so that years down the road I can remember how blessed these days were. If others are interested in my stories, all the better.
Also, I like to post adorable pictures of my son so that my husband will sometimes come visit in search of pictures for his monitor.
Five and a half years ago we packed all our belongings in a moving van and drove 7,000 km from Nova Scotia northwest and landed in the Yukon. Like most Yukoners, we only planned to stay a few months. But, like so many others we fell in love with this place and settled here.
Now, we are getting ready to build our dream home in the woods. I don't know if we will live here forever, but right now I feel strongly about raising my children in this beautiful, inspiring place.
I am the mama of a beautiful little one named Ethan. He brings me joy, laughter and many cheerios on the kitchen floor everyday. I hope there are more little ones in our future. Aubrey, my sweet husband, is with me through most of my adventures.
My love for all things handmade started with quilting. I finished my masters and proceeded to drive Aubrey a little wild. He said "Michelle, you need a hobby!". Yes! I need a hobby! So I prompty dug out my grandmothers old sewing machine and started to quilt. Over the years I have grown to love quilting, sewing, scrapbooking and knitting. I believe everyone has a creative side, you just need to practice, practice, practice. And you need to be able to move on from the mistakes.
I also love the outdoors. Skiing, biking and hiking are my activities of choice, but if you call with an invitation to play outside on a beautiful sunny day, I am more than likely game. Unless, of course, I am in the middle of a quilt.
I am lucky to work in a field that I love, but I don't talk about that much here.
I recently changed the look of my blog to reflect my intention to read more this year.
Welcome! I hope you enjoy my space.
