When I look back on my life I'm sure the week we spent on the Island for Andrea and Steve's wedding will always be one of the most magical. We were so excited and more than a little nervous to go visit the Sicotte family after so much time had passed. But it was amazing how a family can withstand so much time and distance and just fit together like they'd never been apart. And how Chelsea, Steve and I were so warmly welcomed. So cool. I think maybe it's the music.
And those boys? We fell in love with those adorable, fun, smart, snuggly, full-of-energy little boys from England.
We had fun just hanging out together everyday. But the day of the wedding was incredible. The day was clear and I was so excited to wake up to sun! Especially considering the weather on the Island the last few months. The boys had one last practice the morning before the wedding. We piled in the van and drove to the lodge. I wanted to cry pulling into the driveway because it was just so perfect. This perfect little lodge nestled in the rainforest. So totally where I imagine Andi and Steve.
During the ceremony Julien sat on my knee. I will never forget his little gasp "oh! Auntie Andi!" when Dave and Andi turned the corner and started to come down the stairs. So cute. Andrea just looked like a princess. And Steve looked pretty cute too :-) The other set of "boys" (lol the older ones) played a song that Micah wrote during the ceremony. It is fair to say the Sicotte family was filled with a great deal of joy listening to them play together.
One (of many) highlighs for me was meeting Dave's brother and sisters and their partners. Those women reminded me so much of my own aunts.
And on it goes. Beautiful photos. Wonderful meal. Touching speeches. Dancing for hours and hours. (and for me a few more hours). Staying up way to late listening to Andi and her brothers play music. Crazy drive home in the pouring rain.
We had such a wonderful time. We were so sad to leave. Thanks Andi and Steve.
Michelle & Aubrey - We are so glad you had such a great time at our wedding. It really was our dream wedding, and meant so much to us to have both our families together for such a fantastic party!! Thank you for your beautiful thoughts. Here is to many more trips between the Yukon and the Island!! :)
